Cambrian Explosion

Definition: The sudden flourishing of multicellular life forms 530 million years ago, at the start of the Paleozoic Era. Scientists don't yet know what caused the Cambrian Explosion, but it may have been related to increased levels of oxygen in the earth's atmosphere and oceans.
