"Cretaceous Park" in Patagonia?
According to an article in The New York Times, officials in Argentina are looking to cash in on the country's unusually rich dinosaur heritage. Argentina has been the site of some spectacular fossil finds in recent years, most notably the eponymous Argentinosaurus, one of the largest creatures ever to roam the earth.
So far, though, this has been more of a grass-roots than a government-sanctioned effort. An amateur paleontologist in Patagonia has set up a crude museum consisting of various trailers and an unfloored (and un-airconditioned) display hall. Every year, he says, his installation attracts 10,000 tourists, which is why he'd like investors to help fund a modern, $2 million museum.
