Will Dig for Food
The current recession has begun to affect all sorts of people--mortgage brokers, homeowners, anyone who needs to eat--and now you can add a new category to that list: paleontologists.
According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Dinosaur National Monument (which straddles Utah and Colorado) has already slashed its $3 million annual budget by $700,000--and is now laying off two of its three paleontologists. The reason: tough economic times, and a steep drop in visitors.
Will the layoffs affect the park's collection of fossils? Hopefully not, but as we all know, 100-million-year-old dinosaur artifacts need plenty of tender loving care.
